This was great! I had one thought...maybe people are so amazed by things outside the Bible because it is different, perhaps new. The Bible is fresh and new each time we open it up, but experiencing God in a different way can really encourage you and deepen your desire to search the Scriptures more. It is not necessary or we shouldn't rely upon those things, we should always put our whole and complete trust in His written Word. It stands forever.
If people begin to see extra-Biblical revelation as some sort of superior source of anything, it is spitting in the face of God and they are on their way down a road they do not want to travel.
Joe, thanks for the email. I will email you back...soon, hopefully. This article was actually quite encouraging. I think I needed it. (But then, Piper seems to be good that way.) Reminds me a of Hebrews 4:12.
